Easbourne Sports Festival
On Saturday 16th May the SAMA team took part in the anual Eastbourne Sports Festival. The festival is both a special fund raising event for the local NSPCC branch and an opportunity for local families to try new sports.
It has been running since 2012 and has raised over £4600. The Sports Festival is a community event which works to showcases the diversity of clubs and groups in the area. Offering the chance for people to get involved and have a go at sports and physical activities they may not have tried before, with the added incentive to raise funds for a worthy cause.
Our team held tasters sessions in both karate and kickboxing held at Hampden Park Sports Centre. We even had a visit from our very own Tigress which the kids really enjoyed! A great day was had by all and the bonus was raising money for a great cause!
£1238.76 Raised for local charity
The SAMA team ran the Hastings & Eastbourne half marathons in support of the children with cancer fund who are a charity based in Eastbourne.
Instructors Lee Gibson, Andy White, Liam O'Hara, Stuart Hedges, Chris Blackman, Kyle Hobgen & students Brandon O'Sullivan, Ricardo Viveros & Lee Dobinson ran in their uniforms and raised £1238.76 for this great cause.
The aim of the charity is to grant wishes to children up to the age of eighteen, and their families, who have, or have had, cancer and who primarily live in East Sussex. Wishes can be practical, medical or fun and made to individual families as well as supporting a group together by giving them quality family time. They also support local hospitals and community nurses who assist in the care of the children under our remit.
We would mainly like to say a massive THANK YOU to all that donated through just giving, our charity buckets and donation forms for this great cause. It is greatly appreciated!...
We look forward to taking part in more activities throughout the year to help this charity.
